Rock The Week

Fashion related (and totally non-fashion related) things that have made my world go round over the last seven days…

Rock The Week | Ship-Shape and Bristol Fashion

  • Baking. On Sunday evening I attempted baking a three tier carrot cake (it is a was a thing of beauty and I may well post the recipe up here, just so I can share more photos…) which was insanely tasty. I also made some love heart biscuits for a hen do in lieu of bringing champagne, as my wallet is already pretty empty this month, which went down will with the bride-to-be. It went less well for my kitchen, however, which is now covered in a Jackson Pollock style work of chocolate splatters…
  • My Oxfam Fashion post on washing vintage clothing was published this week, and got lots of you commenting on hand washing and caring for vintage clothes. If you haven’t stopped by already, please read the post and add your comments – I’d love to know if you find hand washing as much of a chore as I do!
  • A review of the Diana Vreeland documentary, The Eye Has to Travel, also appeared on the blog this week, and it’s well worth a watch if you’re interested in fashion photography or publishing. If you don’t trust my judgment, check out another review on Clothes on Film, a site which I stumbled across recently and adore for its fashion/identity take on film reviews and news.
  • Exploring Bristol. I spent Saturday on a solo meander around Bristol and loved it. First up was a mini facial at Neal’s Yard Remedies on Whiteladies Road, then I went window shopping on the Clifton Triangle and Park Street, before heading to the Here gallery on Stokes Croft for the opening of the Mythical Creatures exhibition. The weather was fair, and it was just a really nice (and free!) way to spend the day. I look forward to more such wanderings as spring creeps in…
