Goodbye 2011…

I’m sure most of you out there are busy with your NYE plans already, styling your hair, sipping your wine or en route to the pub/club/house party, but I thought before the city rings in another New Year, I would bullet-point the last one.

There have been many changes in the world this year, economically, environmentally and politically, but in Bristol, in my own little bubble this is what 2011 gave me…

Monsoon Fusion dress

A love affair with Italy

A fitness regime I enjoy and which helped me lose over a stone

Ship-shape gets hitched

A husband, and the most wonderful (if slightly expensive) day celebrating with amazing people

Another fantastic and fashion-packed Glastonbury festival

My first lipstick

Two new jobs

A subscription to ELLE magazine

A test of strength

A water bungalow in the Maldives (so what if it was only for two weeks?)

A chance to play at being Kirstie Allsopp

The last few weeks have been very hectic for me and I hope to share with you the ins and outs of what I’ve been up to in the new year, not to mention my imminent sales bargains (Zara, you are mine!) I hope you’ve had a wonderful year and are looking forward to what 2012 brings, have a good one and see you on the other side!

Bloggers Christmas Party

Bloggers Christmas party

Ah, Christmas! A time when you can be sure of three things; you will cave and eat that second mince pie, you will smile graciously when handed that dodgy Christmas jumper, and you will get invited to the office Christmas party. I don’t know about you but I can live with the first two – festive jumpers are actually on trend this season – but the prospect of the office party is a terrifying thought.

If you’re a blogger, your office probably consists of a laptop, the most recent copy of ELLE/Vogue/Love/W (delete as appropriate) and your DSLR. One person does not a office party make, so why not join forces with other fashion and beauty bloggers this holiday season at’s Christmas Bloggers Party?

This Friday (16th) are taking over Java Bristol from 7-10pm and you can forget about inappropriate use of the photocopier – this Christmas party includes drinks, dancing and a live catwalk show from Of course, no fashion soirée would be complete without a goody bag to take home at the end of the night.

Bloggers and fashionistas from around the country will be there – myself included – so if you fancy it only one question remains – what will you wear?

Bloggers Christmas party starts at 7pm at Java Bristol, 9 Park Street, BS1. Tickets cost £5 (which includes a free drink and goody bag) for more info click here

These are a few of my favourite things…

I’ve just returned from a week away – bouncing around between London, Bournemouth and Southampton – and I wanted to share with you some of the best parts of my trip…

Falling in love with a monochrome leather and canvas Pierre Cardin overnight bag in TK Maxx.

Making my first ever batch of Stickyfied Goo Goo, see above.

Witnessing first-hand the use of Supernanny Jo Frost’s Naughty Step technique (it totally works by the way)!

Raiding my Nan’s wardrobe, again!

Gossiping about the benefits of marrying a girl rather than a boy (endless SATC reruns, no smelly socks and a baking session every day, in case you were wondering).

Dressing up in a Fame-inspired outfit for a roller disco Christmas party… and channeling the stars of Whip It at the Renaissance Rooms.

Returning to a flat with fully working internet and a duvet day with Mr Ship-Shape, followed by a cracking Sunday roast at The White Bear. Bliss!

Ellen Page in Drew Barrymore's Whip It

Oh yeah, this is totally what I looked like on the rink...
