Gok’s Clothes Roadshow hits Bristol

Gok's photocall at Cabot Circus

The nation’s fave stylist Gok Wan bought his travelling catwalk to Cabot Circus last night to continue filming for the new series of Gok’s Clothes Roadshow. As regular Ship-Shape readers will know, I headed down to watch filming for the last series back in January. Dedicated fans showed up despite the bitterly cold weather and luckily Gok’s charms pulled in the crowds yesterday too, despite the wind and rain.

After a fashionably late start Gok made his entrance in a deep navy suit and cuban heels, with a string of models behind him as they worked their way through a sea of crowds to the catwalk. Before we were treated to four high street vs budget looks – a blowout designer collection hand picked by Brix Smith-Start has been replaced with outfits that cost as little as £50 – we were treated to the ‘big reveal’ of three local Bristolian women whose families were waiting by the side of the catwalk with baited breath to see their transformation.

For those of us that didn’t know the women we couldn’t appreciate the results of their makeovers fully but from the smiles on their faces as they strutted down the catwalk – and a tearful front row – it was obvious that Gok had waved his magic wand again.

After witnessing the results of the makeovers we were treated to four looks from A/W11 including 70s glamour and 60s style trenchcoats. After we’d seen all the models strut down the catwalk came the moment of paddel waving frenzy when audience members decided which collection they preferred. I won’t give away how we voted but will reveal that I’m now in love with a terracotta trenchcoat that I NEED in my wardrobe.

There was also the opportunity to hob nob with other Bristol fashion bloggers including Gina, Sian and George from MyStreetChic.com, along with Frances of Fashion Fantasist and Haley from Ceriselle .While voting split us in opinion we all came away lusting after new items for our wardrobes – a theme that will no doubt continue through the season!

If you couldn’t make it to the show yesterday fear not – the new series airs later this month and Gok will be bringing his catwalk to Birmingham and Southampton later in the month. If you did make it down to Cabot Circus yesterday which collection did you like the best and what A/W 11 trends are you now craving?

Gok’s Clothes Roadshow starts later this month and the Bristol episode will air on Channel 4 on Tuesday 27th September. *EDIT* Gok’s Clothes Roadshow starts on the 27th Sept, the Bristol episode airs on the 2nd October.

  1. Hey, I missed you on Wed, was too busy catching up with my best friend who I don’t get to see so much now I’m in Bath. How are things? Blog’s looking great 🙂 x

  2. Thanks : ) Did you enjoy the catwalk show? Saw your post – very annoying that we couldn’t take more pics, especially outfit ones! Have worked out that the yellow minidress is from Zara and the full length red dress from the makeovers is from John Lewis, now I just need to find out about that trench! x

  3. I did! Any idea where those gorgeous shoe boots are from (the ones with the Zara yellow dress)? They need to be in my wardrobe. Have just sent you an email about Bristol Fashion Week,
    Nik x
